The Awareness Centre
Welcome to The Awareness Centre, also known as TAC, which is situated in Clapham, South West London, SW4. The centre was founded in 2005 by Michaela McCarthy whose aim is to combine and integrate the principals of clinical and complementary therapeutic practice. More recently, Kelly Garrett, Clinical Director and Business Partner teamed up with Michaela to further develop TAC’s success.
This holistic approach can support an individual’s medical, physical, psychological, emotional, social, nutritional and spiritual well-being. The aim of this approach is to maintain good health and develop an awareness of how we can interact with our environment.
Here is some further information about the services that we provide at our centre:
We provide short term NHS counselling and psychotherapy working in partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) for clients and patients in Lambeth. We also provide short/long term therapy within our Low Cost Counselling Service (LCCS) and our private counselling service at TAC. All our therapists are fully insured and some therapists are registered with private health care providers: Aviva, AXA PPP, BUPA, Cigna, Pru-Health, Simply Health and WPA. Our therapists can work with individuals, couples and families
The clinical psychiatry service at the Awareness Centre is provided by Dr Roger Howells, a private London consultant psychiatrist from the Sloane Court Clinic in Chelsea. He works with a range of issues – depression, anxiety, panic disorder, stress, low distress tolerance, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, alcohol problems, adult ADHD and autistic spectrum disorder’s including Asperger’s syndrome.
