Bathma Thailan works in a way that allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential space. Her original training in Psychosynthesis offers an approach that values uniqueness, and to see the client as a whole with choices and potential to realise their true worth. At times, due to the past or current circumstances, clients may experience a sense of stuck-ness and difficulty in managing various painful emotions. By interacting and exploring together, Bathma’s aim is to support clients to recognise, contain and manage their emotions, and to become aware of patterns of b_ehaviour that are no longer serving towards their well-being, interests and relationship with self and others.

Bathma’s background is rooted in care and relating, gained throughout her careers in nursing, counselling and psychotherapy. She has previously managed a community team which provided care for physical, social and psychological well-being, and has extensive working knowledge and experience working with generalised anxiety, depression, stress at work and personal life, low self-esteem, feelings of guilt and shame, losses, trauma and relationship issues.

Bathma has an ongoing interest in the links between physical and psychological health and how they relate to each other in the healing process. She has interest in mindfulness and yoga practices, which allows her to work with clients in a creative and grounding way. Her time spent in the East and the West has given her great appreciation of different cultures and family roots, and has interest in working with clients struggling with identity issues, differences and difficulty in adjusting to different cultures and environments.

Bathma is a qualified and accredited integrative psychotherapist and therapeutic counsellor with more than 30 years’ experience working as a clinician in the NHS. Registered with the UKCP, she currently works with individuals in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Clapham.
