  • Gender & Identity
  • Relationships

Gunilla Rukavina offers an empathic and non-judgemental space to her clients. She believes that by exploring internal and external struggles and past and current behaviours, clients can increase their self-awareness and work towards psychological healing, maintenance and growth. Gunilla adheres to an integrative approach and therefore combines several approaches according to her client’s needs. More specifically she uses humanistic therapy to draw on past behaviours and thoughts and uses it to encourage clients to express themselves freely. Moreover, she feels that existential therapy can help clients make sense of their lived experience in an authentic manner. Her approach is unique for each client as she is convinced that one approach does not fit all. Having worked in numerous settings including the NHS, she has gained extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, relationships, gender & identity. Gunilla offers short term & long term therapy.

Gunilla has lived in several countries and has had several international volunteer experiences with the young and elderly. She therefore has gained insight into and learned to appreciate diverse cultures, values and traditions. This also enabled her to have an open mindset with clients. Moreover, she understands the difficulties people can face when migrating and that it can impact their identity and how they relate to others. Gunilla also has a background in HR, which enabled her to understand the different needs of people as well as the issues within the work environment. Lastly, she has a background in teaching, where she helped children develop coping strategies with pressures at school and helped improve their self-esteem. She therefore also understands how important one’s childhood and relationships with others can be, in shaping individuals.

Gunilla is a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and is registered with the BACP. She initially studied a BSc in Applied Psychology at Durham University which provided her with an insight to the human mind. It inspired her to pursue a MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy at Regent’s University London. Gunilla works as a private practitioner at the Awareness Centre in Clapham and at Lavender Heal in Clapham.
