Adam Nanayakkara
Adam Nanayakkara provides a safe, supportive space where individuals can express themselves freely, to feel seen and heard for who they truly are. Through counselling, Adam helps clients process difficult or painful thoughts and feelings. An empathic listener, he supports clients to unpack current or upcoming challenges and see the deeper potential beyond the immediate. Adam works with clients to identify and draw on inner resources, to enable them to live a more content life. He understands the pressures of modern living – the pace of change, the challenges relating to both ‘fitting-in’ and ‘standing-out’, and believes in harnessing ability to appreciate beauty in the ‘ordinary’. Adam trained in Psychosynthesis and draws on several ways of working according to the client’s needs, tailoring his approach to the individual.
With a background in developing people, Adam has spent most of his working life involved in organisations across multiple settings, from corporate and non-profit, helping to make the world a better place. He has wide multi-cultural experience in workplace issues and conflict resolution. Adam understands different people put pressure on themselves in varying ways, leading to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies, which are as unique as each person’s story. He works to identify healthier ways of managing emotions, anxiety and stress. He also specialises in helping clients cope with life transitions and depression, exploring them as an opportunity for personal growth.
Adam is a Psychosynthesis counsellor registered with the UKCP. He works within The Awareness Centre’s Low Cost counselling service in Clapham. Adam has a BA in Psychology, a double-Masters and is currently working towards a Diploma in psychosynthesis counselling.
