Aishah Safdar provides an empathic, non-judgemental and supportive space where clients feel safe in sharing their feelings and experiences. Using the person-centred approach, she works with clients to explore current difficulties and take steps towards overcoming these. She believes that the client is the expert, and her role is to form a trusting relationship in which she can facilitate self-awareness and enable a client towards achieving their full potential. Aishah believes everyone is unique and does not adhere to one specific therapeutic model but rather draws on a range, in order to meet the needs of individual clients. This integrative approach puts the client at the centre and enables them to decide what might help them in processing their emotions.
As well as a 1st class degree in Psychology, for the past 10 years Aishah has worked as a Breastfeeding Counsellor and supported many women and families in overcoming the physical and emotional challenges of having a new baby. She is also a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and strongly believes in the benefits of exercise on mental health and wellbeing. Aishah is also currently Chair of Governors at her local Primary School. These roles help increase her understanding and awareness of stressful working conditions and the need for support.
Aishah is a trainee integrative counsellor and is registered with the BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service and sees patients at a GP surgery in Lambeth. She is currently working towards her Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Aishah is also fluent in Urdu/Hindi.
