Amber Hillman provides a supportive environment to help her clients to develop a stronger and healthier sense of self. She works with her clients considering their hopes and expectations for the counselling as well as creating a safe space for them to explore thoughts and feelings. She is inspired by ways in which people instigate change in themselves and their lives through counselling. Her working approach as a Person-Centred counsellor encourages her to help her clients to work out their own solution to their problem and she fully appreciates that the therapeutic relationship is a fundamental contributor to the therapy process. She follows the approach of a Person-Centred counsellor staying in the present and helping her clients achieve their highest potential.
Amber has gained previous experience working within a counselling charity in Hertfordshire helping her clients to deal with a range of different issues her clients faced such as anxiety, low self-esteem and depression. Her approach to counselling is based on encouraging her clients to learn to understand how negative responses to life events can lead to psychological discomfort. With her background as a Child-carer Amber has developed the skills of building close and trusting relationships. She offers her clients authenticity and empathy as these conditions permit therapeutic intervention.
Amber works as a counsellor within The Awareness Centre’s counselling service at a GP Surgery in Lambeth, where she sees NHS patients. As a member of the BACP she works as a Person-Centred Counsellor, currently working towards her Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
