Amy Thompson is a therapist working towards an advanced diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (TA). She is a member of both the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysts). Amy works on an open-ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting.
Amy will work with the client to create a safe space which will allow them to deeply explore their emotions. Therapy with Amy can bring more awareness of life patterns and their childhood roots. Amy believes that most of life’s challenges are related to our personal ways of relating with others, which can be linked to our earliest relationships. The emotional support given through therapy can bring freedom from these unwanted patterns of thinking, feeling or behaving and empower people to find their own solutions to current problems, resulting in lasting positive changes.
Amy works in a non-judgemental way, and follows the TA philosophy that everyone has value and is worthy of respect, everyone has the capacity to think and people decide their own destiny and can make changes to their life’s path.
With a degree in Biological sciences, Amy has an interest in how the brain and body works and its effect on our mental health. After 10+ years working as a Project Manager in healthcare and diagnostics, Amy also knows how the modern working world can create an un-natural way of living that works counter to meeting our wellbeing needs and can create mental ill health, stress, depression, anxiety and other physical symptoms. Amy has experience in bereavement counselling and working with clients on a variety of issues.
