Andrea Burianova is a qualified, registered and experienced psychotherapist, offering weekly therapy sessions to individuals on a short-term and open-ended basis. Andrea’s objective is to create a warm, supportive and empathic space where her clients can feel safe, be fully themselves and talk freely about their concerns without fear of being judged. By working through their worries and identifying challenging thoughts, emotions and behaviours, clients can make a better sense of their current but also past difficulties and how those are often related. Andrea’s intuitive and creative approach helps her clients to get in touch with their inner resources, achieve a deeper understanding of themselves and explore new ways of being and relating to others.
To name just a few, Andrea has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, panic attacks, relationship difficulties, low confidence, loss and recovery from abuse or trauma. Andrea has an extensive experience of working across a range of mental health services including Samaritans, Bereavement services and NHS. Andrea’s gentle and compassionate approach has been particularly benefiting clients struggling with issues around low self-esteem, one’s identity and deeply ingrained shame. Having previously lived in various places including Europe, America and the Middle East, Andrea has a good understanding of different cultural and minority issues and the impact of external as well as internal pressures on one’s self.
Andrea is a Master level qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and has a BSc (Honours) degree in Psychology. She is a registered BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) member – currently working towards professional accreditation. As an integrative psychotherapist, Andrea has been influenced by various therapeutic modalities that she has used depending on client’s needs, preferences and pace, including Psychodynamic and Attachment Theories, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Humanistic approaches. However, Andrea believes that the most significant factor facilitating her client’s change and growth is the trust within the client-therapist relationship.
Andrea works in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Clapham. She offers therapy in English and Czech.
