Andreea Varga works in a flexible and integrative way, blending different humanistic counselling approaches to suit the specific needs of each client. She is committed to creating a safe environment in which, through exploration and reflection of current circumstances or past experiences, clients can raise their awareness of less conscious feelings, thinking and behaviour. Her approach is client-led and revolves around building a trusting and honest relationship drawing on the core conditions of empathy, undivided attention and non-judgement, to support personal growth and facilitate change. While being passionate about understanding each client’s sense of identity and belonging, she is also appreciative of their unique voice and cultural perspective.
Andreea has worked as a lecturer across different countries for over 14 years, gaining an understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and promoting cultural sensitivity. Having a Masters Degree in Creative Writing, she has been involved in charity work with underprivileged children, leading creative writing workshops. She understands the value of empowering individuals by facilitating a means for their voice to be heard and their suffering to be acknowledged. In her teaching role, she has come to realise the importance of individuals to feel supported and accepted within their learning environments in order for them to grow and fulfil their potential. Working with international students and having pastoral care responsibilities, she has been involved in tackling issues of anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-esteem, isolation and loneliness, anger and relationships.
Andreea is an integrative counsellor and a member of the BACP, currently working towards an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic-Integrative Counselling. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
