Working to the client’s agenda and pace, Andrew Palmer’s client-led style is both collaborative and supportive, providing a confidential and non-judgmental space for reflective exploration of the self. He believes that by deepening one’s awareness of self, clients can gain the confidence to challenge and overcome those past traumas that may be negatively impacting on the here and now. Andrew aims to provide a safe and accepting environment where he can help clients find meaning in areas where they may feel stuck, exploring relationships, behaviours, thoughts and feelings that may be getting in the way of happiness, or causing confusion.
Prior to counselling, Andrew spent twenty years working within the financial services industry. It is from this experience that Andrew has gained a first-hand understanding of both the positive and negative impact that the workplace has on our general well-being. He can relate to how the internal and external pressures of professional life can directly impact on one’s mental health. Andrew works with clients to identify healthier ways of coping with the anxiety and stresses of our busy daily lives.
Andrew is currently working towards his Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Having graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Behavioural Sciences, Andrew is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Trained as an integrative counsellor, Andrew looks to draw on both the person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. He works on an open ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
