Angela Cook provides a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming space where clients are heard and empathised with. In collaboration with her clients, she facilitates the space for them to express, explore and process matters that are creating distress or difficulties for them. She believes that therapy can help her clients to achieve an increased self-awareness, elevated self-esteem, an empowerment to achieve personal growth and an improved quality of life. Angela respectfully recognises the uniqueness of each individual, and as she is trained integratively she is able to work with clients using traditional talking therapy and utilise more creative techniques such as drawing and guided imagery.
Angela has a background working within both the public and private sectors in education, learning and development roles. She has an understanding of the demands that can be experienced in a busy workplace culture and aims to facilitate a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Angela has gained experience in working with a variety of clients from a diverse multicultural background on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss and relationships, Angela’s areas of interest are in relationships, faith and spirituality, group dynamics and identity.
Angela is a qualified Counsellor and holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She is a registered member of the professional body, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She works within the Awareness Centre low-cost counselling service in Clapham and has previous experience of working within IAPT and community-based services. Angela is presently working towards an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.
