Anna Campbell-Colquhoun’s client led approach provides the time and space for clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their past and their current situation. She creates a safe, non-judgemental space where her clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. She believes that by gaining insight into past life experiences and how they may be impacting on the here and now clients can begin to move forward and build the relationships around them. Anna has an integrative approach and draws on psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural ways of working. The therapeutic relationship is at the core of Anna’s work.
Prior to counselling, Anna’s career was in publishing, universities and autism, gaining experience in careers advice, loneliness and isolation, language, communication and behaviour, and in international student support. This experience gave Anna the opportunity to work closely with a wide range of people at various stages of their lives. She can relate to how life can present demands and pressures that challenge coping mechanisms, and block a client’s potential for growth. Anna works to enable clients in identifying their emotions and finding new coping strategies that are supported by healthy thinking, to live a fuller and more satisfying life. Anna specialises in anxiety, autism, depression, isolation, life change, loneliness and loss.
Anna is completing a Masters degree in Therapeutic Counselling and is a BACP member. Her training is integrative. Anna works on an open-ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham.
