Anna Jurek is an integrative child and adolescent counsellor who supports young people to safely express and explore their feelings by using the Arts, imagination and play. Anna’s counselling approach is also guided by neuroscience findings and Polyvagal Theory – especially useful when working with trauma and anxiety. Thus, counselling can help children and adolescents gain a better understanding of themselves and others whilst building resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing. Anna also provides sessions for parents to help them to understand their child’s needs and how to respond to them and support them during the counselling process. She has a calm, supportive and a pragmatic approach, which is supportive for parents who are worried about their child and feel lost in their role.
Anna holds a Masters in Applied Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Her background in cross-cultural psychology means that she understands diversity and anxiety related to cross-cultural and racial/ethnic identity issues.
Anna’s private practice at The Awareness Centre is further supported by her work within the charity sector at Place2Be, both in primary and secondary schools.
