Annie Ballingal offers a warm, non-judgemental and empathetic space in which clients are able to feel safe, respected, seen and heard. She believes that with the right support the client can be helped to uncover their own path to healing. Annie offers a tailor-made approach to meet the needs of each individual. Her training as an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist means that she has the benefit of being able to draw on a variety of different theoretical models. For example, she is able to use Transactional Analysis as a helpful way of supporting those looking at difficulties in relationships or can look to Gestalt theory in helping to identify and work with blocks or sticking points in life.
Annie is particularly enthusiastic about the wide variety of arts-based approaches that she can offer and emphasises that absolutely no former experience of, or aptitude for, the arts is necessary. Whilst recognising that therapy is not always an easy journey, Annie believes that with her support the client can not only look at troubling feelings but can also identify their own inner strengths and qualities in order to raise their self-esteem, become more resilient and fulfil their potential.
With a background as a Montessori Nursery teacher, Annie’s work has shown her the importance of providing a safe and nurturing space for children to allow them to play, learn and to flourish. This experience informs her work today where Annie’s gentle, grounded approach helps affirm the individual and their experience of the world in order for them to gain insight, find authentic ways of expression and to grow in their potential.
Annie is currently working towards a Masters in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham.
