Baoyi Ou provides a confidential, non-judgmental and empathic space for clients to bring whatever is on their minds. Baoyi uses a Psychodynamic approach and she is passionate about her work and committed to support her clients through their therapeutic journey of self-discovery and also to support clients’ development of a better relationship with themselves and others. She understands that counselling is not an easy task for anyone. Baoyi believes that people are shaped by the environment they grow up in, and she builds a working relationship with clients, where they collaboratively look in to the client’s past experiences and how the experiences knowingly or unknowingly affect the client lives.
Baoyi used to work mostly with children and adolescents as a trainee counsellor and through that experience she has gained a deeper insight of how the mind develops and how relationships and the environment could affect a child. With the curiosity of how people relationally affect one another, Baoyi is interested in working with relationship issues, isolation and loneliness, anxiety and stress. With the experience of coming to study in a different country, she is also interested in working with people who are from different backgrounds and how they cope with challenges like moving abroad and speaking a second language.
Baoyi is a trainee counsellor, currently studying her Master’s degree in Psychodynamic counselling. She works within The Awareness Centre’s Low-Cost Counselling Service in Tooting. She can offer sessions in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
