Beatriz Puche provides a warm and supportive atmosphere where the client feels safe to open up and talk. In her opinion, the therapeutic room is a place for clients to be themselves and share their thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a non-judgmental space. She believes that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is based on trust and confidentiality as these are key elements for a positive counselling experience. She considers each client unique, and therefore tailors counselling techniques to the client’s particular needs. As an integrative counsellor, she uses a non-directive approach to encourage clients to fulfil their own potential, applies CBT and mindfulness to change their negative patterns and improve their state of mind, as well as working with the unconscious and childhood experiences. Her main goal is to help the client to start living a more fulfilling life.
With a strong background in languages, teaching and project management, Beatriz is aware of the negative consequences of working under pressure. She has a special interest in working with stress, anxiety and depression as studies have found that many health problems are related to these disorders. Getting into meditation and mindfulness was life-changing for her and, when needed, she applies these techniques in the therapeutic setting to manage stress and low self-esteem, among other issues. Moreover, she has an interest in life transitions. When life changes, especially in a negative way, it can be overwhelming for most of us. In her experience, life transitions are difficult and painful but a great opportunity for learning. She is from Spain and has lived in the UK for 7 years. Having moved countries twice, she has also developed an interest in cultural barriers and diversity, and her language skills allow her to offer counselling in English and Spanish. She has volunteered for years with people suffering from severe mental illness, loneliness and isolation.
Beatriz is an integrative counsellor working towards a Masters in Therapeutic Counselling. She is a student member of the BACP and works on an open-ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s Low Cost Counselling Service in Clapham and with NHS patients in Wandsworth.
