Ben Blair is a humanistic counsellor adopting an integrative approach tailored to the specific needs of each client. He sees clients as individuals and works with them to explore their unique experiences, supporting them in gaining greater self-awareness in order to live in a more satisfying way. He employs an empathic, non-judgemental, non-directive approach, with the focus on developing a trusting and honest relationship to help people feel safe and supported in therapy, and in a space where they can address the issues that most affect their lives, at a pace that suits their individual needs.
Ben has previously worked with children and young people as a carer and youth worker, and currently volunteers at a charity for elderly Londoners seeking to tackle isolation and loneliness. He’s worked for many years as a documentary maker, so understands how empowering and healing it can be when people have the opportunity to have their voice heard and feel truly listened to. He has worked intimately with individuals from diverse backgrounds, across many different countries and cultures, exploring their lives and inner feelings, and tackling issues such as trauma, homelessness, pain, illness, amputation, divorce, parenting, relationships, PTSD, and grief.
Ben is working towards an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and is a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. He works with The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
