Ben Williams
Ben Williams is an integrative counsellor and is a student member with the BACP. He works in The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham. Ben is in the third year of working towards a Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Ben offers a warm, empathetic presence where clients can experience the freedom to explore and express their true selves without fear of judgment. He believes that every individual possesses an inherent wisdom and capacity for growth, and his role is to provide a safe, accepting space where this potential can naturally unfold. Ben’s approach is person-centred, respecting each client’s unique journey. Rather than directing or advising, he listens with genuine empathy, creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust and unconditional positive regard. In this space, clients are encouraged to bring forth whatever feelings, thoughts, or memories they wish to explore, whether they stem from the present moment or past experiences. Ben trusts in each person’s ability to find their own answers and direction when given the freedom and support to do so. His approach respects each client’s pace and process, facilitating a powerful, life-affirming experience where they can better understand themselves, overcome inner barriers, and move toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.
Ben has a background working in the NHS as a therapist in Lambeth and also has a number of years experience in a refugee charity where he works with adults seeking asylum and also children who have been separated from their families.
