As a mental health counsellor, Beverley’s areas of expertise include a sound understanding of depression, self-esteem, anxiety and stress. If her clients feels that they are struggling with life’s load, Beverley offers a non-judgmental approach and empathic understanding; enabling her clients to explore their issues in accordance with their individual needs. She draws on an integrative model, which enables her to use the benefits of self-psychology, person-centred and psychodynamic theoretical approaches. These models provide a useful way to help clients manage problems, develop self-awareness, and achieve insight into present problems.
With a professional and academic background, Beverley has gained considerable knowledge in working with adult clients who experience common mental health conditions. Some who have been victims of domestic violence and adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Additionally, as a teaching assistant and team leader, she has worked with young children who endured learning difficulties, or have been deemed as psychological vulnerable and at risk of social exclusion from schools. Beverley holds the ability to support her clients to build their coping strategies, resilience and self-esteem.
Beverley holds a Psychology BSc (Hon) degree and a PGDip in Psychology of Education degree, and is currently working towards her Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She is member of the BACP and BPS. Beverley currently works within the NHS Wandsworth service for The Awareness Centre.
