Working integratively, Bola Ogundeji is able to use different approaches depending on the needs of her clients. She believes that no two people are the same and everyone responds to difficulties in uniquely different ways. Therefore she carefully and sensitively works with clients to determine which approach(es) may be most suitable for them. Operating from the premise that every individual is capable of fulfilling their true potential, she helps her clients in an empathic, person-centred, non-judgmental and warm environment to put them back in touch with their feelings and to own them unapologetically – while striving towards desired change. She believes that by gaining insight into early relationships and past life experiences, and how they may be informing current patterns of thought, feelings, behaviour and relationships, her clients can begin to move forward in building thriving relationships, family and life.
Bola’s background lends a unique perspective to her work as a therapist. Having been raised in a Black African family with strong faith values, she has a first-hand experience and understanding in dealing with cultural and religious barriers to therapy. She balances her role as an HR Consultant alongside her therapeutic work. With over 10 years’ experience in managing people, and managing complex organisational changes, she understands the impact of a negative culture, poor employee relations in the workplace, and the impact of life and work transitions on people. She has an interest in and experience with working with difficult family and intimate relationships, couples, as well as workplace issues.
Bola is completing a Foundation Training in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is also working towards a London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, including registration with the BACP. Bola works on an open-ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham. She offers therapy in both English and Yoruba.
