  • Guilt & Shame
  • Intercultural Difference

Caroline Brookes works integratively, using a psychodynamic approach to enable clients to recognise how the past affects the present and to unravel unconscious thoughts. Also using a person-centred approach, Caroline is empathic to enable clients to feel safe, unjudged and comfortable to explore any difficulties and concerns to help clients reconnect with their own inner values. Caroline’s integrative therapy can encourage and support clients without interfering with their journey of self-discovery.

Caroline believes that clients perceive their own thoughts, feelings and experiences in different ways, which makes everybody unique. Caroline aims to build a therapeutic relationship with her clients to support in making sense of difficulties so clients can feel empowered to work towards personal growth and self-awareness.

Caroline has been working as an Office Manager, mainly in the voluntary sector ensuring that systems are smooth and efficient for the effective running of operations. As a result, Caroline has developed strong organisation, interpersonal and communication skills from working across various organisations and work cultures and has always had a keen interest for people of all walks of life to get along well in the workplace.

Caroline is working on her final year towards a diploma in therapeutic counselling using an integrative approach. She is registered with the BACP, practicing safely with her clients and allowing them to feel autonomous and un judged. As an integrative therapist, she draws on the approaches that best suit the issues that clients bring into the therapy room. Caroline’s training has incorporated gender and identity, intercultural differences, bereavement and shame and guilt. She works on an open-ended basis with people of all backgrounds within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service.
