Charlotte Allocca is a trainee integrative counsellor working working within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham. She is a student member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). As an integrative counsellor she is committed to helping individuals meet their challenges by drawing on multiple therapeutic disciplines. Charlotte’s practice is primarily person-centred but is grounded in the belief that each person is unique and therefore counselling should be tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.

Charlotte uses a range of techniques including person-centred therapy, gestalt, mindfulness-based approaches and solution-focused therapy to allow clients to open up and focus on their true potential. She has a fundamental interest in the impact of our mental wellbeing on our ability to lead our best lives. She creates a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard and understood. Her key abilities include empathy, active listening and strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills used to create effective counselling sessions. Using a problem-solving approach she gently guides clients to identify and work through their issues encouraging personal growth and development.

Having worked originally as a journalist Charlotte has worked for the last fifteen years in a variety of client-facing, therapeutic roles in complementary health with a diverse range of clients from a variety of backgrounds and with a broad age range. This led to a realisation that the ‘therapeutic relationship’ was the most rewarding part of client-facing work. Charlotte has worked for the last five years with Cruse Bereavement Care and Shout Crisis Line supporting clients enduring a range of personal challenges including loss, anxiety, depression and suicidal feelings. Charlotte is welcoming, compassionate and approachable and is committed to helping clients achieve their goals and improve their mental health.
