Charlotte Sharpe aims to provide a safe, friendly, and non-judgemental space where clients can fully explore the thoughts, feelings and experiences that are causing them difficulties. Charlotte’s training is integrative, therefore she will work collaboratively with you, and use a range of therapeutic tools which fit your individual needs. Charlotte believes it is important to view each person as whole and her approach allows her to work holistically. Charlotte believes you are the expert of your own experience and is passionate about empowering clients by furthering self-awareness and developing self-acceptance. She believes that the best therapeutic work comes from a strong therapeutic bond based on trust and unconditional positive regard.
Before deciding to pursue a career in counselling Charlotte completed a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Forensic Psychology, providing her with a firm theoretical understanding of the psychological difficulties faced by clients. Charlotte has worked in the health and social care sector for a number of years in a variety of settings including low secure forensic units, prisons and more recently managing a rehab for women with complex needs. Charlotte has experience working with clients presenting with difficulties such as addiction, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, offending, homelessness, hearing voices, depression, trauma, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
Charlotte works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham as an integrative counsellor. She has a student membership with the BACP and is currently completing her BACP accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
