Deborah Binns is an empathic counsellor with clear communication skills, and a genuine desire to work with individuals who need support. She understands that clients are experiencing and carrying difficulties brought from their past into their present life experiences. She strives to provide a warm, congruent, confidential and non-judgemental environment for her clients. Giving clients the opportunity to talk openly and feel heard. In turn, the counselling relationship will encourage a deeper understanding of the self, the development of a sense of security, and the identification of areas of change.
Deborah hopes to enable her clients to build self-esteem, self-awareness and self-respect for themselves and others. She has a non-directive approach, which allows clients to find their own solutions to their problems. Her style of counselling is integrative, focusing on the Person Centred approach showing an unconditional positive regard towards her clients. She also uses Psychodynamic approach to provide a true understanding of the thoughts, behaviours and patterns of her clients, allowing them to improve their lives.
Deborah’s caring nature originates from her experience as a child carer. With over 25 years’ experience working in the care sector, she holds professional qualification’s in childcare, Human Resources, youth and family assessment, and personal relationships. Deborah is open to working with clients from different backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations and age groups. Deborah has a passion for providing her clients the space to develop the internal resources to cope with the stressors in life. She has an understanding of trauma and the impact it can have on the breakdown of relationships. Deborah desires to support her clients along their journey to trusting and healthy relationships.
Deborah’s modality is integrative, she is currently studying and working towards an Advanced Diploma in Counselling studies. Deborah is registered with the BACP and works as a low cost counsellor at The Awareness Centre in Tooting.
