Donna Raphael offers a safe and non-judgemental space where clients are free to be themselves. She believes empathy and authenticity are key to establishing a good client/therapist relationship, which can lead to making long lasting changes. She works collaboratively with her clients exploring the emotions and feelings that they might be experiencing and how to move forward. Donna empowers her clients to find the answers to their issues within themselves. She is a trainee integrative counsellor, which means she combines humanistic and psychodynamic approaches to tailor the therapy to her clients’ individual needs. She explores how past issues may be affecting them in the here and now and supports them in addressing them. Donna finds that mindfulness and breathing techniques help clients stay connected to the present.
For over a decade Donna has worked in costume design, in film, opera and ballet, and she has explored the complexities of the human condition in her work. She understands the pressure to succeed and the impact that it may have on the individual. She observed first-hand how people can get out of touch with themselves and strives to help clients get back to healthy work/life balance. Donna has always had an interest in people, and this has led her to embark on training as counsellor, to find a more meaningful way of working. She has a particular interest in supporting clients with anxiety, depression and issues related to childbirth and parenting.
Donna is working towards an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling and is a student member of the BACP. She is currently working within The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service in Lambeth.
