Dr Tjasa Velikonja
Dr Tjasa Velikonja provides an open, non-judgemental and empathic approach. She is passionate about psychology and strives for clients to better understand their own psychological and biological processes, all within their uniqueness. She uses an integrative approach, incorporating elements of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness-based approaches, along with Humanistic and Existential Therapeutic Approaches. Her therapy sessions are guided by the client’s needs, strengths and goals. Tjasa aims for her clients to feel empowered and equipped with skills to become their own therapists.
Tjasa holds a psychology PhD from UCL, and has spent over 10 years researching childhood trauma, PTSD and psychosis. She has also worked on a several clinical trials in the UK and USA and has extensive experience in psychological and cognitive assessments of individuals with psychosis, personality disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Tjasa is completing her last year of Counselling Psychology Doctorate. She has a Chartered Psychologist membership at BPS, and the BACP and BABCP student memberships. Tjasa works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service and sees clients at a GP surgery in Lambeth.
