Dr Zoë Wilson
Dr Zoë Wilson’s aim is to empower clients to work together with her towards overcoming their difficulties within the context of a safe, trusting and collaborative space. The support and expertise she offers facilitates the exploration and understanding of sensitive material, which enables clients to move towards enhancing their quality of life through the awareness they gain and conscious choices they make. Initial sessions form an assessment phase which helps establish a focus for therapy. Through this process Zoë develops with each client a comprehensive picture of their difficulties: seeking to understand how they originated and are maintained. As therapy progresses this shared understanding evolves and orientates how Zoë works with each client. She has practice experience in both the NHS and private practice, with formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred and Psychodynamic psychotherapy, and Schema Therapy.
Zoë began her Counselling Psychology training after working as a Psychology Assistant at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. Prior to this she spent several years working in film and television. Zoë has practised therapy with individuals across the adult lifespan, with a broad spectrum of emotional, behavioural and relational difficulties, since 2006. Her experience encompasses providing brief, medium and longer term psychotherapy within a variety of professional settings. These include primary and secondary care NHS services, a staff counselling service, low-cost counselling services and an NHS community mental health team. She has been working in private practice in Harley Street since 2014.
Zoë is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Certified Schema Therapist. She has a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc Hons) in Psychology from Bristol University, and a Master of Science (MSc) and Professional Doctorate (DPsych) in Counselling Psychology. Zoë has also completed specialist training (PGDip) in CBT at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care and Professions Council, a member of the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST), and of the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) Division of Counselling Psychology and their Psychotherapy Section. She works in private practice in Marylebone.
