Elizabeth de Athly provides an open and supportive space in which you can share and explore your unique life story and difficulties. She understands that personal relationships, life and work present various demands, dilemmas and difficulties for people in their daily living.

Elizabeth will meet you in a deeply personal, individual and empathetic manner, which makes it easy for you to relax and talk about whatever brings you to counselling. She will work closely with you to ensure you feel safe, supported and understood in dealing with your difficulties. Elizabeth believes that, with counselling and support, you can find ways to alleviate emotional distress, unhappiness and unhelpful thinking. She will help you to develop more healthy ways of thinking and behaving; improve your coping strategies and your way of being-in-the-world, instead of just existing.

Previously Elizabeth has worked as a Business Psychologist in various sectors. She draws on this experience to help clients explore and develop better coping mechanisms for difficulties at work, work stress and burnout. Elizabeth also specialises in anxiety, overwhelm with life/burnout, life transitions, bereavement and loss, trauma and family conflict/ alienation.

Elizabeth is in integrative counsellor, which means she works with different therapies according to the client’s needs. She uses Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focussed, Psychodynamic and Existential Therapy, as well as Transactional Analysis. Elizabeth is registered with the British Psychological Society. She is currently completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy. She sees clients with The Awareness Centre’s Low Cost Counselling Service in Clapham.
