Elizabeth De Athly
Elizabeth de Athly provides an open and supportive space in which clients can share and explore their own unique life story and difficulties. Elizabeth understands that personal relationships, life and work presents various demands, dilemmas and difficulties for clients in their daily living.
Elizabeth meets each client in a deeply personal, individual and empathetic manner, which makes it easy for clients to relax and talk about whatever brings them to counselling. She works closely with clients to ensure each individual feels safe, supported and understood in dealing with their difficulties. Elizabeth believes that, with counselling and support, clients can find ways to alleviate emotional distress, unhappiness and unhelpful thinking. She helps clients to develop more healthy ways of thinking and behaving; improved coping strategies and an improved way of being-in-the-world instead of just existing.
Previously Elizabeth worked as a Business Psychologist in various sectors. She draws on this experience to help clients explore and develop better coping mechanisms for difficulties at work, work stress and burnout. She helps clients to create more balance and calm within themselves, as well as, their personal and work lives. Elizabeth also specialises in anxiety, overwhelm with life/burnout, life transitions, trauma and alienation from and conflict with family.
Elizabeth is in integrative counsellor, which means she works with different therapies according to the client’s needs. She uses Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focussed, Psychodynamic and Existential Therapy, as well as Transactional Analysis.
Elizabeth is registered with the British Psychological Society. She is currently completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy. She sees clients with The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service in Lambeth.
