Emel Unlu is a trainee counsellor in integrative pathway. Her first aim is to provide a warm, supportive and empathic environment where her clients can feel safe, be fully themselves and talk freely about their concerns without fear of being judged. She believes that every individual has the ability to look into their problems from a different and helpful perspective when the necessary conditions are provided. Once this perspective is established, it will help them to grow and find the most suitable solutions to their problems.
She thinks that different personalities with different concerns require a creative combination of different methods to work with in order to reach most effective results.
Working in advertising industry for many years she has experienced the stressful conditions of modern business life personally and continued her career as a certified yoga teacher and meditation instructor.
As a seasoned mindfulness and yoga practitioner, Emel works closely with the effects of thoughts and emotions on the body and encourages relaxation, stress release and similar awareness practices which are enormously helpful in certain problem areas like anxiety. On the other hand, some other concerns need to be approached by gaining insight about deeper areas of human consciousness.
She sees the therapist client relationship at the centre of healing and aims to provide a healthy atmosphere to her clients in that respect. She sees clients in The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service in Wandsworth and is working towards completion of Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
