Emily Burton is an Integrative psychotherapist, which means she blends several different therapeutic approaches (e.g. person centred, psychodynamic, gestalt and CBT) to use the most applicable of each for the benefit of her clients. In her work she draws on contemporary theories and evidence-based research to inform her thinking and enable her to tailor each session accordingly. Emily thinks that counselling and psychotherapy can be helpful whether you’re struggling with something specific, or just feeling generally low, overwhelmed or stuck.
Emily spent two years volunteering for the Samaritans before embarking on her training to become a counsellor six years ago. During this time, she held a number of volunteer clinical positions across London based low cost counselling services, as well as completing an honorary placement at Mind.
Emily has over ten years’ experience in the corporate sector, supporting individuals and teams to challenge the status quo and change behaviour. In addition to her private practice, she currently works as a Facilitator and Coach to promote positive mental health in the workplace.
Emily has a Clinical Diploma in Integrative therapeutic counselling and is in the final stages of completing an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. She is a BACP registered psychotherapist and counsellor; for The Awareness Centre she sees NHS patients for counselling at a GP surgery in Wandsworth.
