Emily Halton provides a warm and welcoming space for her clients enabling them to explore their true feelings. Its very important to her that they feel valued, heard and supported. She believes that her clients always have a right to talk freely without judgement or criticism whilst in the counselling space. She also believes that as people we function at our best when we are given the space to be able to tap into our true authentic selves. Emily has experience helping people access a happier and safer belief system. Working integratively, Emily may be able to help the client explore some patterns of thinking that were set in childhood. She combines a humanistic way of working along with some pyschodynamic strategies, to analyse these patterns further. Sometimes it’s these patterns that no longer serve us. She believes that through therapy we can work on letting them go forever and develop healthier and more fulfilling ways of thinking.
Emily is a huge believer in therapy for the mind and body and believes in self-love and mindful thinking. She trained as a yoga teacher and has worked with lots of people who have struggled with anxiety and depression. She believes that moving our bodies, deep breathing and mindfulness can help reset the brain when unhelpful and detrimental thoughts are feeling intrusive. She sometimes helps clients with body scans, guided meditations and anti-anxiety techniques which clients can then do at home to help with sleep and restlessness.
Emily Halton is working towards her diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Integrative approach. She is a member of the BACP and is working towards her accreditation. As an integrative therapist she combines lots of empathy, warmth and understanding along with her theoretical knowledge to best work with her clients. Emily works for The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
