Emma Myrtle provides a safe, non-judgemental, empathic space to explore and promote healing on all levels of a person’s being (mental, physical and emotional). She works to gain insight into old patterns which may be limiting her clients in the present. By working to recognize and understand these thoughts, feelings and behaviours, she aims to assist her clients in developing their own deeper awareness about themselves and the issues they face. She aims to help her clients in developing their own inner resources and tools to process any painful feelings and experiences in the present and also create coping strategies to help manage any future stressful or traumatic events.
Emma will work with clients to identify, verbalise and express any underlying emotions such as grief, sadness, anger or shame to enable a person to move forward. She aims to create a safe space where a client can openly discuss and process anything that is important to them. She uses a humanistic integrative approach which includes person-centred, Gestalt and Transaction Analysis and mindfulness methods. Her approach is tailored to each individual client. She has an interest with working with people with health issues, trauma, depression, low self-esteem, sex and relationships issues and working with anger/emotional problems.
Emma’s background working as a photographer and yoga teacher has taught her to become a good observer of body language and recognise where people hold tension patterns. She has experience of working in stressful environments, which has enabled her to gain skills for overcoming anxiety and stress.
Emma is a registered member of the BACP working towards an advanced diploma in humanistic integrative counselling; she has a foundation certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling. As an integrative counsellor, she brings together a range of counselling approaches to suit each individual needs and personal circumstances. She works within The Awareness Centre low cost counselling service.
