Erica Joseph is an empathetic therapist who likes to ensure that her clients are truly seen, listened to and heard. She considers things through an intersectional lens.  Her therapeutic modality is Transactional Analysis (TA), a humanistic/integrative form of therapy with an emphasis on open and equal dialogue between client and therapist. Insight is gained through analysis of the clients social transactions, and this insight can bring about personal growth and change.

Before becoming a therapist, Erica had a long career in the pharmaceutical industry where she worked on global strategic change projects and as a workplace career coach. She’s been instrumental in changing behaviours and improving competency in a multinational corporate setting, and possesses leadership and change management skills.  These skills are also useful in a therapeutic environment.

Erica holds a client central in unconditional positive regard and works with them to help them to become more aware of the healthy and defensive elements in their life script – the unconscious life-plan that they formed in childhood.  Her intuitive approach and her ability to connect with her clients at a deeper emotional level, helps her clients to elicit sustainable change.

Erica is a trainee Transactional Analysis psychotherapist and is registered with both the UKCP and UKATA, working in accordance with their ethical frameworks to ensure safe and ethical practice.  She works with The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.  She’s working towards an Advanced Diploma in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy and accreditation as a psychotherapist.
