Esthefanea Santos provides a safe, supportive and empathetic space where clients can explore issues without fear of judgement. Her counselling can open conversations, bring clarity and help alleviate emotional distress. The base of her work is Humanistic, which means that the relationship between the client and the therapist is one of equals; she works collaboratively with clients to help them gain an understanding of their difficulties and consider the impact of past experiences on their present functioning. Through this process, clients can begin to form different perspectives, improve relationships and manage difficult times in a more balanced manner. As an integrative counsellor, Esthefanea will draw on various approaches, tailoring each session to meet each client’s individual needs.
With a strong background in Healthcare, Esthefanea works actively alongside people who require high levels of support. Her role is built on communication, respect and compassion all of which enables her to gain an awareness of her clients’ practical and social needs. As a MIND volunteer, she works with people with complex mental health problems, focusing on self-empowerment and quality of life at a pace that is achievable and respectable. Esthefanea has experience and a keen interest in life transitions; having moved to the UK over 16 years ago, she understands that changes can be challenging but also offer great opportunity for learning and personal growth to take place.
Esthefanea holds a BSc Hons degree in Psychology, an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology and is currently working towards a Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy with progression to a Diploma. She is a member of the BPS and is a student member of the NCP. Esthefanea works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS service in Wandsworth. She offers therapy in English and Portuguese.
