Fabricia Cucco is a dedicated trainee counsellor, who adopts the Person-Centred therapeutic approach. Applying empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard, she supports and guides her clients in recognising their own power in overcoming painful and difficult thoughts, and in exploring feelings and behaviours, including anxiety, depression, bereavement and limiting beliefs, that can make daily life so challenging. Her approach includes various techniques and exercises that support her clients in managing their lives in a healthier and happier way. Fabricia believes that constructing a strong relationship with her clients is essential for the counselling sessions to be a success and to achieve the desired outcome. She works in partnership with her clients, focusing on what is effective and efficient, to lead them to reach outstanding results.
Fabricia moved from Brazil to London in 2000. Before that, she worked in the medical field as receptionist and PA. She recognizes that her last job in Brazil, in a private Plastic Surgery Clinic, supported her the most in learning to listen to people about their concerns and expectations in life. After moving to London, while studying to become a teaching assistant, she volunteered for three years in a primary school. The connection she developed with the pupils was delightful: being able to listen and empathise with the children, helping them discover their own resources, was priceless. What is more, having experienced herself how powerful therapy can be, she decided to train as a therapist, to be able to support others overcome their difficulties. At that time, she heard a Brazilian neuroscientist saying: “Three years of your life will pass any way. You decide how you will get there”. And as a “click”, she felt that it was time to help others and give more to the community and the world.
Fabricia is studying towards a BSc in Counselling and Coaching and is a student member of the BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling service and sees patients at a GP surgery in Lambeth.
