Govind Pindoria
Govind Pindoria is a trainee Person-Centred Counsellor and a registered student member of the BACP. He works with a broad range of clients including clients at Age UK, a secondary school in North London and those in the early period of their adulthood looking for their place in this world. Govind has completed a diploma in therapeutic counselling and is continuing studying for a degree in counselling. Govind works at The Awareness Centre in Clapham.
Govind provides safe supportive space for clients, aiming to build a rapport and a sense of trust so that the client is able gently explore their challenges. He supports them to gradually dig deeper at a pace that is comfortable to them so they can build the seeds of their own growth. Govind principally works through a Person-Centred modality working jointly with the client following them where they want to go in their self-exploration. Alongside this he can add elements of the psychodynamic, working with the client to explore their past experiences if they are a draw or an anchor that may be echoing through and influence the client;s thoughts and feelings in the here and now.
Govind has experience in different careers, as a scientist, business and in academia working in several different countries around Europe as well as Japan and the US. This has given him an insight into many different cultures around the world and grown an understanding of the wonderful diversity there is in people and a passion for supporting people to understand their uniqueness in this world. This first led him to volunteering with the Samaritans supported people with their mental health challenges on the phone and at music festivals and continues now as a counsellor. This experience helps him support clients with suicidal thoughts, anger, anxiety and depression.
