Helen Thorpe is an empathic counsellor who provides a safe, non-judgemental and supportive space for clients to talk about the challenges they face in daily life. Sometimes during difficult times, we need a little help and support to work through our problems effectively, and Helen collaborates with clients to increase their sense of wellbeing. She is an integrative therapist which means that she uses a range of therapeutic techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of clients. She may use Person-Centred counselling which puts clients at the core, in the here and now, and provides the right conditions to achieve personal growth and change. She may also draw on Psychodynamic techniques which helps to bring a client’s sub-conscious into the conscious and may ask questions about a client’s past to help with this.

Helen worked for many years as a Quantity Surveyor in a high-pressured corporate environment and as such has first-hand knowledge in the pressures of balancing work and personal life. She understands the anxiety, frustration and stress which can often follow busy lives and how this can impact people’s self belief and behaviours that manifest as a result of those beliefs. As well as working at The Awareness Centre, Helen now provides leadership training to corporate workplaces based on a Transactional Analysis approach which is a powerful therapeutic tool for understanding and improving human relationships. Helen is also a qualified Baby and Infant Holistic Sleep Consultant working with families to improve periods of challenging sleep and in turn improve wellbeing and a sense of confidence.

Helen is an integrative counsellor and a student member of the BACP. She works at The Awareness Centre NHS service in Lambeth. She is currently working towards her Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
