Irena Grgona’s compassionate, empathic and non-judgemental style provides a safe space for her clients to feel free to reveal themselves, to be seen, valued and held.
Whilst she is trained in a variety of counselling modalities which honour the body-mind connection as well as each individual’s inner capacity for healing and transformation, her approach is firmly rooted in the Person-centred and humanistic tenets inspired by Carl Rogers. Irena sees herself as offering safe presence to her clients who are the wise experts on themselves.
Irena has travelled extensively, worked in different careers and across a variety of settings in the UK aside from the NHS including global organisations, government, education and the arts.
She speaks various languages, values diversity, inclusion and social justice and brings an appreciation of different cultural sensibilities and personal life experience of mental and spiritual health challenges and recovery.
Irena is a trainee counselling psychologist in the first year of her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She has 2 undergraduate university degrees, acting certifications and diplomas from the US and the UK, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, a Master in Psychology from British universities and is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society.
She is also an accredited yoga and meditation teacher and facilitator of an integrative modality known as Inner Bonding, trained by its creator, which she investigated in her Master thesis. Irena sees NHS patients for counselling at a GP surgery in Wandsworth and works in diagnostic assessments in clinics in Richmond and Kingston.
