Jacob Bevan aims at providing a warm, empathic and supportive space where clients are able to open up and be seen as their authentic self. Whilst counselling is a great tool that can help clients process their thoughts and feelings, it can also be used to gain a better understanding of themselves and the thoughts behind their motives. This is an area for personal growth, as well as reflection.
Jacob works within an integrative model, drawing on aspects of psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, and focuses on developing a relationship with the client to help gain a better understanding of them and their situation. Using this developing understanding, Jacob can tailor the sessions to the needs of the client in order to best serve the client’s interests.
Having worked in the retail sector for over 20 years, Jacob has built up an interest in person-to-person interactions; how these are shaped and formed and how they affect our day to day lives. From building and maintaining relationships,to understanding the motives behind our actions, Jacob looks at all types ofinteractions to better understand a client’s patterns of relating with others.
Jacob is an integrative trainee counsellor and is a registered member of the BACP. He works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service in Lambeth and is currently working towards an advanced diploma in integrative counselling.
