Jacqueline Pereira provides a warm and non judgemental space where you can feel free to explore your difficulties in depth in a safe and confidential setting. She will work collaboratively with you to ascertain what might help you as an individual and focuses on building a therapeutic relationship believing that it is one of the most important factors in the effectiveness of the counselling.

Jacqueline’s approach to therapy is integrative, meaning that she adapts the approach to best meet your specific needs as she sees each client as being unique and special in their own way. She draws upon the person-centred model offering a supportive environment by being empathic, accepting and congruent which she hopes will encourage you to reconnect with your inner self enabling you to find your true potential in life. The psychodynamic model may be used to explore how your present difficulties might be influenced by unconscious feelings and negative experiences from the past. Jacqueline aims to work with you to help you gain insight of unhelpful patterns of behaviour and unresolved conflict affecting your life and choices. Through exploration and insight she is hopeful you will begin to find ways of making a positive change.

Jacqueline has a background in office administration and client facing roles where she has gained experience of working with adverse range of people. She has also volunteered at a palliative care unit where she provided one-to-one companionship and support as well as a listening ear. She understands the internal and external pressures of life people experience and the impact it can have on their mental health. Jacqueline is particularly interested in issues relating to self-esteem, stress, bereavement and loss, loneliness and life transitions.

Jacqueline is a trainee counsellor working towards a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling that integrates the person centred and psychodynamic approach. She is a student member of the BACP and works with The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham. Jacqueline can offer therapy in English or Portuguese.
