James Kightley offers a non-judgemental, confidential, empathetic and supportive space in which individuals can explore and process difficult issues and feelings. He believes everyone is unique and that by following an integrative approach, he is able to draw on a range of theoretical approaches to help tailor sessions to each individual’s needs. These approaches include humanistic theory, psychodynamic theory and CBT, as well as others. James believes that counselling can be instrumental in helping us to change our lives, overcome the challenges we each face and find our own way of living fuller, more satisfying lives. James understands that counselling can be daunting and aims to provide an environment in which clients feel comfortable and safe when exploring difficult and sensitive issues.
James has a background in professional services and understands the challenges that come with working in high pressure environments. James understands that our experiences as well as the way we think and feel about ourselves can have an impact on many areas of our lives such as work, sex & relationships, habits & behaviours and self-esteem, and has a special interest in these areas.
James is an Integrative trainee counsellor, currently completing a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. He is a member of the BACP and works in accordance with the BACP ethical guidelines. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in life sciences.
James works with The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Tooting.
