James offers a supportive, non-judgmental and safe environment where clients can feel encouraged to discuss and work-through whatever issues they face. Regardless of the challenges and personal circumstances, James uses a solution-focussed approach that allows the client to find a positive way forward defined by their individual needs. Whether requiring a space to discuss symptoms of anxiety, depression, addiction, negative thoughts or otherwise, James works with the client to build a set of resources that will contribute towards a happier and fuller life. As an integrative counsellor, James will draw on Gestalt theory to help define the root cause of thinking and behavioural patterns, and Transactional Analysis to establish healthy and more balanced relationships.

James has worked in the trades as a scaffolder and electrician for over fifteen years. He was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease as a child, which caused severe depression, anxiety and eventually, addiction. He has been in recovery from addiction since 2017. As a result, he understands how hard it can be to seek help and carve a path ahead, but also the enormous benefit of doing so. In addition to the above, he is also well placed to support those seeking productive ways of coping with stress, anger, and building inter-personal relationships.

James is a counsellor working towards a diploma in integrative counselling. He is completing his training with NHS Sutton and is a member of the BACP.
