Janice Schembri is passionate about helping clients to explore and make sense of their difficulties. She collaboratively works with clients to help them become more aware of and to address patterns that keep them stuck in order to bring about change. Her aim in the sessions is to create a nurturing, accepting, understanding and confidential space where clients can reflect on their journey through life and understand how past events may continue to have an impact in the here and now. She aims to help the client feel empowered and thereby help them live a more fulfilling, satisfying life. Through support and encouragement, the client will safely find the range of their emotions to develop an accepting relationship with themselves.
Janice’s approach is integrative, which means that she draws on different theoretical approaches and styles depending on the client’s needs. She often employs CBT and Mindfulness in her client work. Janice adopts a holistic approach to understand the pains, discomforts or other sensations in the body which might be a reflection of one’s thoughts and feelings.
Janice has dedicated most of her life to personal development and well-being. She has started her journey working as a Complementary Therapist where she gained experience in working with clients with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and work-related stress. Janice feels that a strong therapeutic relationship is developed to feel safe and comfortable, she is relatable and down-to-earth which can help individuals to feel at ease.
Janice is in her final year, working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling. She is a member of BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service at a GP surgery in Wandsworth. Janice offers therapy in English and Maltese.
