Julie Gravell believes the relationship formed between the client and counsellor is fundamental to counselling. She sees therapy as a joint venture in which you both work together. It is a safe space for you to explore and focus on the areas you would like to improve in your life such as dealing with low self-esteem, anxiety, shame and improving your relationships with others.
Julie works Integratively, blending several different theories and approaches to best suit the individual needs of the client. She specialises in Psychodynamic and Person Centred Therapy. She also draws on Attachment Theory and Transactional Analysis.
Julie is qualified to work with Sex and Porn Addiction. She has seen the devastation and pain this addiction can bring, both for the addict and partners.
Before Counselling she spent many years working creatively in the music industry. She is also a qualified teacher. Julie is a counsellor registered with the BACP and ATSAC. She holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in Sex Addiction with ISAT. Other qualifications include the Transactional Analysis 101. She previously worked at The Awareness Centre in Clapham for 18 months as a placement counsellor working with low cost and NHS clients. She works privately at The Awareness Centre Tooting, seeing clients on an open-ended basis.
