Julie May provides a safe environment where her clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgement. The connection between client and therapist is at the heart of her work and Julie enables her clients to put a voice to their concerns and consider what they would like to be different in their lives and how change might be achieved. With her support, Julie believes that clients can become experts in their own lives and find the key to their potential. As a result, Julie works with her clients to facilitate self-awareness.
Julie has worked with young people between the age of 11 and 18 providing short term therapy in a school setting. This has involved exploring experiences of anger, anxiety and self-esteem. She has also worked with adults experiencing stress and workplace issues. She has been employed in a well-being team as a practitioner and trainer and as such psycho education is an area of interest and Julie introduces elements of this into her work if her clients feel they will benefit from it. Julie believes that she can journey with her clients towards alleviating their distress. She seeks to work with her clients to help them gain greater understanding of the root causes of their difficulties.
Julie is currently studying in her second year of a Level 4 Integrative Diploma accredited by CPCAB with London South East Colleges. The integration is humanistic, person centred and psychodynamic but currently she works primarily within the humanistic, person centred modality of counselling. She works with The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting.
