Julie Morris offers her clients a safe space to explore the reasons for their anxiety, worries and concerns that are stopping them from enjoying their life. A client may think the blocks to their happiness are because of an immediate concern around family, work or friends. However, often the block to happiness was caused many years before. By treating her clients with kindness and offering a non-judgemental approach will often enables clients to remember more clearly past experiences which influence their ability to enjoy their current day to day life. Once these connections are made, Julie works with her clients to build coping mechanisms for their future happiness.
For many years Julie has supported parents who have anxiety around the birth of their baby and listened to their concerns around looking after baby and coping with their changing family relationships. She has supported many new mothers who have suffered from post-natal depression and from a traumatic birth experience. Julie also has experience of supporting fathers, same sex couples and parents who have reached out to a surrogate to welcome a baby into their home. The parenting landscape has changed enormously over the last ten years and many parents need to reach out for additional emotional support to embrace these challenges be that from their own parent, partner, baby, toddler or teenager.
Julie is a Trainee Integrative Counsellor, studying a CPCAB Therapeutic Counselling Diploma and working towards BACP accreditation and an Open University degree. She has a background in HR Management and Recruitment and during the last 10 years has run post-natal clinics for parents both within St Georges Hospital and the voluntary sector. The counselling skills she has acquired to support new parents she now wishes to offer to all clients who are suffering from anxiety. Julie works with The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting.
