Karen Lofters offers a warm, welcoming and empathetic approach to all clients, as well as a confidential and safe space for clients to be open to discuss their concerns freely. She believes that developing a trustworthy, supportive and non judgmental therapeutic relationship is essential to helping clients with their various needs. She offers an Integrative Approach using the Psychodynamic Approach and the Person-Centred Approach. By using these approaches her aim is to encourage clients to look deeper into their unconscious thoughts and feelings, whilst also helping clients to find their true self. Karen understands that life’s journey can present difficult challenges and therefore believes that therapy helps people to deal with these challenges and enables individuals to move forward in their lives.
Karen has twenty years of experience in Administration and has gained an extensive amount of knowledge and experience in work place pressures. Within her role, she has worked with various people from all walks of life and within various agencies. Karen has worked with people who have encountered challenging situations and understands that each individual is unique. Working as an Administrator has given her the opportunity to obtain good verbal and non-verbal communication skills. She is passionate when it comes to helping and supporting people and has a particular interest in working with clients in the areas of Bereavement and Loss, Anxiety, Low Self Esteem and Stress. Karen also has experience of working with vulnerable families and children. These roles throughout her life have provided Karen with the skills and the immense passion to put people’s needs first.
Karen is a trainee Integrative counsellor and is a student member of the BACP. She holds a BA Honours in Sociology and Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling qualifications. She is currently working towards a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and works within The Awareness Centre Low Cost Counselling Service in Clapham.
