Karin Mucci is a trainee psychodynamic counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is working towards her Counselling Diploma which she will complete in July 2018. She works open ended with clients at The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting.
Karin works to support and listen to clients in an open and non-judgmental way, so they can feel valued, heard and understood. She believes empathy, unconditional positive regard, honesty and warmth in a safe and contained environment is very important in helping clients open up and share their problems and concerns, and to develop a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. Karin aims to help clients explore their fears, anxieties and patterns of relating and discover how past life events can affect present behaviour, thoughts and feelings. Through this self-exploration and awareness she believes clients can realise their true self-worth, build their self-esteem and find more constructive ways of relating and managing their problems. This helps empower clients to deal with life and its many challenges in a positive and fulfilling way.
Karin lived in many different countries throughout her childhood and life and really appreciates difference and diversity. She has a great respect and curiosity of people and sincerely believes each one of us is worthy in their own right, and so much can be learnt and shared with others. She understands the challenges of change and the difficulties of loss and fitting in to new and unfamiliar environments. Karin has experience of working with clients who have self-esteem and self-confidence issues, feelings of guilt and shame, abandonment issues, loneliness and isolation and with stress and anxiety.
