Katarzyna Inglot provides an empathic, non-judgmental, confidential space for clients where they can share their thoughts and feelings. The safe environment gives an opportunity to explore difficult areas and painful experiences. Katarzyna works within an integrative framework, based on the relational paradigm. The foundation of her integrative framework evolves from a psychodynamic base, with Attachment Theory as core element of therapy. She also focuses on linking the past and present in order to increase the client’s awareness on how their past childhood experiences shaped their adulthood and how it manifests itself in the present moment. Katarzyna also implements within her integrative framework the three core conditions derived from the person-centred approach – genuineness, empathy, and positive unconditional regard.
Katarzyna believes that in therapy, clients have the opportunity to find themselves and can explore other, healthier, ways of relating to other people. The therapist becomes another, temporary, attachment figure, and assists the clients in their journeys. She strongly believes difficulties can be the beginning of a process in therapy, which can guide clients towards a deeper understanding of themselves. She also believes that the process of therapy gives clients the opportunity of reaching their goals and helps clients live their life more authentically in accordance to their own feelings, beliefs and values. Katarzyna has a special interest around developmental trauma and further consequences of it in adulthood.
Katarzyna has gained experience in workplaces such as a recovery service, where she worked with both young people and adults with substance misuse issues. She assisted clients from the point of entry towards abstinence and encouraged them to live a more positive life. Katarzyna also has experience working in an environment focused on supporting survivors of domestic violence, especially supporting clients around risk management and safety planning, using a trauma-informed approach. Katarzyna moved to London from Poland, which gives her a good understanding around the topic of immigration. She has been working with diverse groups of clients.
Katarzyna is currently working towards a Master’s degree in integrative psychotherapy and is a student member of the UKCP and BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Tooting.
