Katy Byrne provides a safe, warm and empathic environment to allow clients to explore whatever difficulties they are facing in their lives. The model Katy uses is integrative, which means she is able to tailor her approach to the individual client. Her model combines psychodynamic work, which is looking at the past, and a person-centred approach which focuses on what is going on for the client in the present. She can help you process any current issues or challenges and will also help you to think about what impact aspects of your past may have had on you. She strongly believes that it is through a deeper understanding of ourselves that we are able to grow and develop to our full potential.
Following many years working in TV documentaries Katy ran a company specialising in communication training, as well as working as a foster carer for Lambeth Council. More recently she has worked in education while she completes her training.
Katy is a counsellor in her fourth year of training and is in her final year of training for a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She has a PG Cert. in Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy. Katy is a member of the BACP and works under its ethical framework, which ensures that the client’s best interests are always uppermost in her mind.
Katy has experience working with depression, anxiety, relationships and identity and whether you have a particular issue you are dealing with, or you just want to understand yourself a little better, she will provide a supportive space for you to think about whatever it is you need to think about in order to achieve your own personal growth.
